Intel Arc A770 Flagship GPU Being Prepped for Launch

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger ensures that the initial batch of Intel Arc A770 graphics cards is ready for retail sale while receiving one of his own.

According to a tweet from Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, his friend Raja Koduri sent him a brand-new Intel Arc A770 Limited Edition graphics card as a gift. Raja personally delivered the new Intel Arc A770 Limited Edition graphics card, and Pat tweeted that the business was “now getting the first batch of A770 cards ready for retail.” Although Intel first unveiled the Arc A770 Limited Edition more than two months ago, I suppose we’re getting closer to the launch date now.

With the Intel Innovation event scheduled for September 27, Intel will soon release its 13th Gen Core “Raptor Lake” CPUs and new enthusiast-friendly Z790 motherboards. The new family of Raptor Lake CPUs, including the much-anticipated Core i9-13900K flagship model, will be unveiled to us.

Returning to the Arc A770, Intel promised that its desktop Arc GPUs would debut in Q3 2022 (rather than Q2 2022), and we are now just days away from Q3 2022’s end when Intel will have broken yet another of its promises. If the CEO is only receiving a card at this time, then… I dunno, maybe Pat’s watch is a little off and still says Q2 2022.

Tom mentioned that they had one sample of the Arc A770 graphics card (not cherry-picked) that ran up to 2.7GHz with just a few voltage optimizations. Temperatures were stable at about 80C on a standard air cooler with no changes in fan speed, according to the report, which claims that the card runs at 228W, just 3W more than the TBP of 225W. Hitman 3 ran smoothly on the card, and with even better coolers, we might be able to achieve higher clock speeds that are close to 3GHz.

Raja also tweeted a simple statement: Pat wanted to know whether he connects 4 x 4K or 2 x 8K displays to the card, but we all know that’s not going to happen. Pat probably uses one 1440p 60Hz display, possibly an Apple MacBook Pro, or something similar. (4) 4K displays A pair of 8K displays? If he does, the general populace has now demanded: Pat, show us your daily workstation!

Some of the highlighted features of Intel’s new Arc A770 Limited Edition GPU include:

  • Die-cast aluminum frame
  • A thermal solution with an evaporation chamber and extended heat pipes
  • Screwless casing design
  • High-performance axial fans with 15 blades
  • Beveled edges
  • Full back panel with matte accents
  • 90 fully controllable diffused RGB LEDs
  • Stealth Black I/O Bracket
  • 4 display outputs

On September 27, just over a week from now, Intel expects to introduce a new line of graphics cards at the company’s innovation event. The 13th generation Core Raptor Lake desktop processor series will be publicly unveiled by Intel on the same day.
